Update 18th May 2007

Pike fishing slowed down a bit with the changeable weather of last week, but if you persevere there are still some nice ones out there.
A group of Italian guests had several fish over the meter mark with the biggest around 24lbs. (foto to be included at a later time)
Repeat visitors to Boyle, clients Wim and Tom Jeehe from Holland this time accompanied by their brother in-law Phillip arrived on Wednesday.
Despite the stormy weather they ventured out with me on a safe venue and it was Phillip, who never fished before, who caught most fish. His biggest catch was a beautiful pike of around 19lbs.

April/May 2007:

Pike fishing has started to really liven up these last few weeks!
While guiding a german film team/ journalists we had good catches of pike up to mid doubleson both lures and on the fly.
Italian clients Stefano and Luigi Pozzi had two cracking fish of 21.5 lbs and 18 lbs both on lures.

(foto shows Stefano with 18lbs fish)

The bigger fish of the two provided some heart-stopping sport when he trashed the jerkbait at boatside!

I added a nice 20 lbs. fish to the tally the next day. (foto)
Things are looking good for the next few weeks as pike should be feeding well.
Also the mayfly has started to appear on many local waters and the first trout are being caught too. So let's hope the mild weather lasts, so we can make the most of this annual spectacle.

February 6th, 2007:
Just back from 4 days guided fishing with a group of German anglers. Regular visitors and clients Gerd, Simon and Wolfgang this time also backed up by Karsten and Michael were out with me since Friday.

With the sudden drop in temperatures the fishing was slow, yet we managed a few good fish everyday.
Michael caught the biggest pike of the trip weighing 18lbs.(photo To follow at later date), closely followed by Simon and Gerd with 16lbs. and 14lbs. fish respectively.
Karsten was in my boat and caught this cracking trout (photo below) on Sunday. Note the thick fog in the background, which made for unusual fishing conditions on two of the days. Of course the fish, which weighed just under 9lbs., was quickly released again.
Please Note the Trout season doesn't start til next month!!!
Also fish of that calibre are immensly important to the brown trout population with their spawning contributions.

Til next time,
